Post subject:  Intake Manifold / Carb Upgrade Recommendations

Hi, New forum member and new Slant Six owner (67 Barracuda). My slant has the factory intake with 1 barrel carb. Previous owner put Dutra Duals on the engine with dual exhaust. I would like to "improve" the performance a little by replacing the intake manifold and carb. Knowing there are different options out there (2 barrel, 4 barrel, super six, etc.), I would like to hear from everyone what would be my best options for the dollar. I have no intentions of racing, purely a street car. Thanks in advance for sharing your advice!

Well, the "Super Six", in the later seventies, meant a two-barrel intake and carb, and for a street motor, that's what's going to be the norm for recommendations. Find a slant-powered Volare, Aspen, or light pickup in the salvage yard, and grab the intake/exhaust assembly, along with the carb, air cleaner, and kickdown linkage. (You'll need the kickdown if yours is an auto trans.) If your yard search is fruitless, you might post a wanted ad here, and there may be someone close enough to you that the shipping won't hurt much.

As expensive as Super Six stuff is getting don't be afraid to run a 500 Edelbrock 4 barrel on an offenhauser intake or similar. No one says you have to run with secondaries open.
