Math to me in general is a challenge. So algebra is like... phssss.. but ive calculated a 225 at 6000 Rpm @ 85% VE can pump 330 CFM which has the potential to create 500 PH... this is unrealistic.. l think?? What rpm is a well balanced slant capable of? And im wondering what rpm do some of you turn down the track? I know there are allot of variables, rod length, piston rod weight, ect. Also what HP can a person expect from a well designed slant? @ 85% VE is assumed naturaly aspirated, so with a turbis VE can get up to 100% thats around 550 HP. ( at flywheel that is).. now a stock 225 is rated at 145 HP. So l see some unrealistic numbers here..?..

You are about right on those numbers. However, lots of things need to line up to make that power - induction, head flow, air charge cooling..... 320-350 crank HP is not hard to make on 8-10 psi Several folks have made over 500 HP over the years. I am just below 400 HP now on 14 psi in a fully street driven car.

Wow Lou.. thats awesome.. ld like to dyno my setup, but the gie wants 175 to hook up to the dyno, and 100 an hr after that
Lol.. l dont know about any one else, but my money tree didnt bloom this year... l imagen you use a air to air after cooler. How big is it? Im running into a lot of 4cyl. coolers. I think im looking for one that is about 26in (squared) ?? Should be rated for 400HP. Pipeing to cooler 2 in, and from cooler 2.25in or 2.5in... l feel im on the right path here. Lou do you run a carb setup or EFI?

Port EFI (Megasquirt I with other stuff homebuilt), water/methanol injection, no intercoolers. Have never dyno'ed, but it has gone 12.70s @ 108 MPH on 14 psi at 3300 lb racewt. Hi 13s on 6-7 psi and mid 13s on 9 psi.

The Ray Hall Turbocharging web site has some useful calculators. http://www.turbofast.com.au/

Your big calculation error was in the VE. If you play with a Dyno 2000 or other simulation you'll find the VE numbers are much lower. Also, the 145 hp rating is a myth. There was a discussion on the matter a few months ago. A stock 225 with good exhaust makes about 120 hp and this is reflected in the net hp rating found on Dodge trucks.
