Is there any good way to free these up? The control knob on the top lever (heat/defog) is so jammed up that the plastic fittings that hold the cable ends snap right out when I try to move it. I've lubed everything I could see (cables included) with penetrating oil but it's still difficult as anything to move. Also anyone know where I can get new defogger ducting? |

the 'paper/spring' tubes can be gotten in generic form from your local autoparts store, the new ones usually are rubber and spring. Take your old one with you so you can get a close match. -D.Idiot |

Consider yourself lucky to find the duct material localy, no dice here in So.CAl so will have to go to JC Whitney which has it-on mine it start out retangular and transations to round. Jopapa have you attempted to disasemble the furrel by releasing the control knobs?-look for hidden set screws as mine has some small ones that are easily missed. Will study mine as have never paid it that much attention. Dave |

The ducting changes size in this one, but stays round for its whole length. I would think I could stretch it a bit (or compress it to size with hose clamps) to get it to fit up right.Furrel? Set screws? Are you talking the center trim piece on the dash that covers the radio and air controls? If yes, I've gotten that all apart, and now that I finally found the nuts up top that hold it on, it's a piece of cake to do (if a little cramped). Still a royal pain to get the cables to move at all though ![]() |
