Anyone ever have this happen? I'm going through all the rebuild adjustments and everything adjusts fine but when I'm finished and I pull the throttle all the way back, it either feels sticky or gets stuck completely. There's just too much friction inside there somewhere. The only thing I can see is when I take the top half of the carb off and look at the accelerator pump, it seems to be slanting to the left instead of just hanging straight down. I figured that was the source of my problem but I grabbed a spare BBD in the garage and when I removed the top, that accelerator pump was hanging to the left as well. Is this normal or do I have some sort of problem? I lubed the accelerator pump plunger as well but that didn't seem to help at all. |

Turns out it was the step up piston. The plastic adjuster piece was getting caught and rubbing on the step up piston, causing it to stick when the throttle was open. I readjusted the step up piston and turning the screw on it just slightly caused the rubbing action to stop but I didn't trust it at that point. I took the step up piston out of the spare carb and the contact points were of a slightly different design. After installing it, the clearance was much better and it still worked perfectly fine so I went with that instead and everything works smoothly now. Thanks for the reply. |
