What size fuel line to run for a modified Slant six with a 400 CFM carburetor? standard was 5/16 do I need to upgrade to 3/8?

I run 5/16" with Holley 390, 225 engine spins up to 6000+ rpm (before rebuild this year) and runs out of carb before fuel. Now if you are racing circle track or some other activity requiring constant very high rpm, perhaps 3/8" may be required.

Thanks supercharged! No racing just wanted to make sure I don't run out of fuel when I play hard!

Stock 5/16" line supports 11 second race engine. It will be fine for all but the wildest blown and turboed alchohol engines.

On the other hand a stock replacement fuel pump and 5/16 fuel line was unable to keep the fuel bowls full on a low 17 second 225. So your results will depend your setup. And the only way to know it to try it and see.
