Has anyone used QA1 ball joints? I need to do the upper control arm bushings in the DeSoto . I am thinking about a T Bar and balljoint upgrade at the same time. |

Try proforged.. Lou and other handling guys are recommending. PROFORGED 10110126 is the larger size... late a / f body... they can be had from summit or Rockauto. Greg |

It will increase the amount of negative camber gain or at least decrease the amount of positive camber gain as the car body rolls. Some of us used to cut and weld two spindles to make a taller right side spindle on our hobby stock dirt cars for just that feature.
Is there a good reaon to try these as opposed to the "regular" ones? |

From what Lou and other Handling guys are saying batches oft the New Moog Ones are Junk. Sometimes as much as 0.060" Play on the joint out of the box. These (proforged) are supposed to be of superior quality compared to the others out there. I will be getting them soon for my project. Greg |

I do not have long term testing on the Proforged yet, but everything you can observe and measure looks better than the current (or last 20 years) Moog parts. Yes, zero or near zero play, but 0.040-0.060" play for Moogs. Last set of Moogs on the 68 Dart (~2009) lasted maybe 10-20k miles - ugh. Lou |

I answerd my own question about taller BJ by observing the car ,,,, I wear out the inners on my front tires at least partly because of the ride height of the car.....the built in caster from my K member install...and my continued touring in the car with big loads (1000lbs) We always do an alignment with the car empty. Its easy to get positive camber. So we do..... ...and it gets greater as the car is loaded.(ride height) ....so I don't need special ball joints to make it worse. I am at the end of my pile of OEM UCAs with both good ball joints and bushings.....clean slate. It looks like I should rebuild a set with Proforged BJ and some poly bushings. |

Glad I saw this thread. The race dart needs some front end work, and I had been planning to buy Moog ball joints. Sad to hear their quality has gone south. I also love the idea of reducing (negative) camber loss when loaded, so the Proforged tall uppers are now on the list. |

I have had the QA1 upper control arms with their ball joints for a few years now without a single problem, they also have grease-able poly bushings that show no signs of wear, and don't squeak! I use Spicer Professional Lower Control Arm Bushings (Rubber). This is in a 1964 Dart GT Daily Driver. |

Interesting. I have had a set of CCP adjustable upper tubular control arms installed on my 67 for about ten years/25k miles, and they have real crappy dust boot sealing. Actually boot doesn't seal anything out, ball is exposed, requiring greasing every 1000 miles or less to keep them from creaking & groaning. I'm on the third or forth set of upper ball joints. I have had it with these things. How well do your QA1 allow sealing of ball joint, and how much additional positive caster is available? |

literature says 3 degree+ camber, but I would say it was more. They were very easy to install and setup and align. Dust boots are solid and I have had no problems at all. I have greased the front-end once in the last 3 years, no squeeks or sounds of any kind |

Danarchy, Thanks for the info. How many miles on those parts? Good to know about the QA1 parts. I did not know QA1 made control arms. BTW, I think you mean +3 caster, not camber... Best, Lou |

you are correct sir, "Caster". 23k since the front end rebuild....I live in a small town. I also boxed my lower control arms during the rebuild, and should have welded tabs for a sway bar, but the car doesn't get alot of radical driving! |
