Hey guys, as part of my turbo build i am upgrading to programable msd timing, as part of this i lockout my centrifugal advance, also do away with the vacuum advance too, As i am doing this in stages i plan to run it N/A to start with,

as i am to set my own curve, what is a ideal curve? Was thinking 6 btdc on cranking, 15° at 900 rpm then ramping up to 30° @ 3000rpm.

Thanks

That sounds like a nice place to start. Depending on cam, headwork, compression, etc, the ideal curve will be different, but yours will be close for many NA applications. I am running that MSD programmable on my turbo Dart and have 18 deg above about 9 psi boost. It is relatively conservative so I can use pump gas and drive across the country and not blow anything.

Engine is a stock 1968 225, 2 barrel, you guys call them a super six, just doing one thing at a time, then will pull the engine for the turbo build. Still getting my head around the program. What distributor are you using?

I am using a "Lean burn" electronic ignition dizzy from a late 70s or early 80s Aspen or Volare. It is locked and has no vac advance from the factory. You could order one from a supplier in the US, or I'm sure a board member would have a spare if you post in "Parts Wanted". It is easy enough to lock a stocker too, though.
