Post subject: | Oil pump gear oil sprayer - help needed |
I have a new 6 bolt oil pump, engine block and sprayer. I was planned to install the sprayer to the block. A hole and metric M10x1.5 threads. I have read the instructions at the articles folder and found this : ...method uses a special hollow bolt & tube assembly, bolted into the unused block “pocket” where the oil pump mounts. A small “anti-siphon” or standoff tube is then used to connect & pressurize that pocket. The standoff tube can be installed in the oil pump or in the block Gear oiler shape and position, use thick wall - stiff tubing like NOS tubingpocket but be sure the tube extends to the top of the cavity. This will prevent the oil from draining out of the main galley after shutdown (oil drain back)... Sorry but I dont get how to get oil to this unused pocket. Oil pump doesnt have hole and the block doesnt have it either. Could some one show a picture for the "anti-siphon or standoff tube" installed? My parts under construction. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have done both and they work, I think doug`s way of drilling the pump is the best way of oiling the gears contact area. |

Here is a link to an article on the main home page. Lot of good articles there. I think this is the one you need. http://www.slantsix.org/articles/oil-pu ... report.htm |

I have been looking for pictures doug sent me, not sure where they are but sure if you contact him he can share them again. drilling the pump is a lot better than the through block line in the article, even though drilling the passage can be bit of a challenge. |

I found these from Dougs pictures Here is pics of my versio of squirter: This is VW 1.9Tdi oil squirter with pressure valve in bolt. I cut a groove to extra pocket to oil pump. Now thinking afterwards, maybe I could have drilled hole through, so it would not affect to gasket surface. |

great pictures, doug also said running a 9/16 tread tap through the shaft opening will help oil getting to the gear. I never tried this just drilled the oil line passage. |
