Got my 72 Dart Swinger /6 home and one of the first things I am considering is a nice set of rims. What size will fit in my stock wheel wells? This is a stock drum brake car with small bolt pattern. I would like slightly wider on the back and like the look of the AR Torque Thrust (grey centers) rims. Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I have 15X7 Police rims with P225/70R-15's on my '72 Satellite. Police rims will fit on your car, if you go to the big bolt pattern. |

I like the round ones... Seriously, I'm running stock rally wheels (14X5.5") on the front of my '70 Duster with 195/70's and some re-rimmed rally's in the back (14X7", custom backspacing/reverse offset) with 235/60's. Personally, I like the way Cragar S/S or slots look on a '67-'76 Dart. I love Torq-Thrusts, too, but they seem to look better on a B-body or older car to me for some reason. Of course I like plain or chromed steelies, too! ![]() "DW" |

Right now my Cuda sits on a set of 15x7 cop car rims on the back with 225/75/r15s, and on the front it has thwe factory 14 inch formula s rims at 14x5.5 with I don't knwo what tires size. Once I get the front disc brake swap finished I am going to put a set of aluminum slotted mags on the car that are 14x7 and run a tire with a profile identical to the original Formula "S" tires size( don't knwo what that is yet though). Personally, I prefer Cop rims or cragars if you want to stay with a steel rim, and if you want to go aluminum I really like the slotted mags. Everything else just starts to look like a tonka toy, especially the newer rims. Thats just me though. On the other hand, Brett's car looks cool, and centerlines look okay too. Reed |

It's not just you, Reed. No offense to anybody, but 17" - 22" gaudy chrome or gold wheels on older cars look ridiculous... Come to think of it, they look ridiculous on import tuners, too, but who cares about what THEY look like! (except import tuner guys! ![]() "DW" Wheel Fashion Police Officer |

Those gaudy 17-22" chrome or gold wheels look really stupid on cars that have no other chrome. I saw an acura yesterday with these huge ugly chrome wheels that looked so out of place on a chromeless car. Don't hose morons know that those huge wheels are very heavy and kill their acceleration? When I lived in Florida I was talking to my neighbor. He told me he had to replace his outer wheel bearings twice on his VW Jetta. He had these deep dish, ugly chrome, zero backspaced wheels that stuck like 5" out of the wheel wells. I told him it was his wheels. "What do you mean wheels is wheels" he said. |

I've got 14x5.5 standard steel wheels on my '65 Barracuda with 195/70 tires. I converted to the large bolt pattern when I did front discs and 8-3/4 rear end. I like having my original Barracuda wheel covers but I've never liked the look or feel of the 195/70 doughnuts. They remind me of the tires on that car in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". So for years I've agonized over what wheels and size to change to. At first it was Torque Thrusts Ds, then Torque Thrust IIs but it seems like every Cumayrow at the Cruise-ins has those. So I think I'm going with 15x6 front and 15x7 rear "Salt Flat Specials". https://www.newstalgiawheel.com/product ... ductID=841 They're cheaper versions of the old Halibrand Kidney Bean wheel and they look a lot like the optional '69 Cuda alloy wheels that were recalled because of breakage problems. Anyway I think the 15s are the best compromise for improving tire choice and street handling while not upsetting the vintage look by going to too low of a sidewall. The Autocross guys can run 16's and 50 series. I'm planning to run Kumho KH11 tires in 205/60/15 fronts and 225/60/15 rears. The 15s will also let me upgrade to the larger B body rotors on my front brakes. |

Those are kinda similar to the old K-H magstars( I think that's what they are called). A buddy of mine has those on his '61(?) New Yorker convertible, and they look great. I have 14X6 Mustang Magnum 500's on my '66 Cuda. They are not usually found on an early 'A' Mope, so it doesn't look like I am following the herd. |

first thing i can suggest is switch to big bolt pattern(5x4.5"). you are going to limit yourself rather quickly using the small bolt patter(5x4"). that said, i run 15x7 cop car rims on my 74 dart swinger with a 225/50r15 tire all away around. --chad |
