Its time to start gearing up for the 2019 Slant 6 Racers Banquet. This year we will be having the banquet at our house/property in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. We are putting together ideas and starting to plan some things for this years banquet. The property has 2 gymnasiums and a restaurant on site and a handful of other rooms we could use as temporary "hotel rooms" for anyone who wants to stay here instead paying for a hotel. My Dad (Rick Covalt) and a couple other racers live close by too so there will be plenty of places to stay. The first big question is what date should we have it. We were looking at 2 potential weekends, the weekend of March 9th, or the Weekend of March 16th. Let me know which date is better for you all so that we can get that finalized. We are really excited to have the banquet up here this year and are looking forward to a great time with everyone. It looks like I'm going to go with March the 16th unless there is a big change in a couple days. If the 16th doesn't work for any of you that would like to attend the banquet, let me know as quickly as you can. Definitely want as many as possible to be able to make it. |

So, March 16th, 2019 will be the official date for the Racers Banquet. There will be a lot of "free" places for anyone who wants to stay with one of us. I will also start posting up info on the closest hotel. Send me a PM if you want to stay with us. Also feel free to post or message me with any ideas you have for the banquet. My property is an old high school building and does have a large gymnasium, so there are a lot of different options for us with the banquet. |

Cool. That's what it probably will be in PA in March. Cindy and I had a great time last year and hope to be able to come to this years event and then head to warmer places. |

I will be working on gathering up items for the agenda in Jan. and Feb. Bring your ideas and proposed races, track schedules to the meeting. I also thought it might a fun idea to do a white elephant gift exchange. We do it at work for our department party and its a blast. I figured the slanters could do a bit of attic or garage cleanout and bring some funny stuff in like 100 lbs. of 1 bbl carbs, or a chevy 350 water pump, or an old kids toilet or something... Greg |

The White Elephant gift idea sounds like a fun idea to me to Greg. I was thinking about doing a slanted cruise Friday night (depending on weather) for anyone who is able to drive their slant 6 vehicle. There is a good little Italian/Pizza restaurant about 30 minutes away on a great portion of well paved mountain road. I enjoy the drive as much as the food. I was thinking it would be a fun time if the weather is good. I still have room at our building if anyone is looking for a free place to crash. We have a couple of air mattresses and couches to sleep on and plenty of space. Andrew Shank has space at his house too and i'm sure we can find other places for anyone who wants to stay with us. I was looking at hotels and there are a bunch of options at different prices but I haven't found any great group deals yet. |
