The first one I pulled from a 1963 Dart 170, and the block stamp read T17 6 28, the second engine I pulled from what was supposed to be a 68 or 69 Valiant Signet, and its code was PT225R 23141087. This has been driving me mad all day, can anyone shed some light on what these are supposed to have come from? |

Also on the first one the the number after T could be a lower case L? |

"T" is the correct letter code for 1963 17 is correct for a 170 engine and 6 28 is an engine assembled on June 28th. The PT225R 23141087 stamping is confusing. The PT225R part is a 225 engine built at the Trenton engine plant and runs on regular fuel. 23141087 has too many numbers to be a number from the Chrysler 10,000 day calendar. Are there any spaces between those numbers? DD |

2314 = 28 November 1967, a reasonable build date for a 1968-model car. The 1087 after it would be an engine serial number or other intra-plant code not relevant for today's purposes. |

Ah so the motor I have is a 1967, I was clarifying being that I plan on putting this junk motor in place of my 170 while I properly rebuild that, but wanted to know the year for sure so I wasn’t forcing that crankshaft reducer bushing on when I did not need it. For the 67 engineits safe to assume I do not need the reducer bushing? I had read that it was post 67 and since I was told it was originally a 68 motor was prepared to buy it. |

I had only heard of the need for a post 67 reducer bushing on this forum, so was unsure as to whether or not I need it because I don’t know if that is in reference to the cars Production year or the block. |

Any time you are close to a break like that, and you don't know the history of the engine anyway, I think it is best to just measure. If the motors are already out you can see the converter pilot and both cranks for comparison. Even if you don't have access to a caliper, you can make a go/no go gauge out of a scrap of wood or whatever. |

The post-68 forged crank sitting on my workbench has a pocket with an ID just shy of 1-7/8". I'd have to dig in a cabinet to find an early crank that isn't installed in a car, but as I recall they're closer to 1.5". |

No. It was built in late 1967 for a 1968 car. It's a 1968-model motor, originally equipped with a 1968-model crankshaft.

The forum user "Charrlie_S" probably has more of the adapter rings; you can send him a private message. It sounds like you'll need one. Alternatively, it's not a hard part to make if you have access to a lathe. |

Alrighty, I’ll send him a private message, checked the TC snouts and even visually the later about was larger, checked with a piece of wood and that was the case. Will PM Charlie. |
