| Post subject: | rocker arm ratios? |
I have heard that the factory mechanical rocker arms are notorious for not actually being a true 1.5 ratio. What is the best method to check for checking the ratios of these rocker arms? |

The rocker ratio is the proportional distance of the push rod side of the rocker to the valve side of the rocker with the rocker shaft as the centerline. A garage bench method to chech the rocker ratio is to mount a rocker on a shaft, have a dial gauge zeroed on the valve side, preferably at the valve contact point, then move the push rod side a known distance. The valve side should have moved 1.5 times what the push rod side moved. |
