I've reached a point in my long rod buildup that brings me to a question. The issue at hand is the compression ratio. I'm at approx 9:1 now, but if I go for a quench setup, it'll put me at right around 10.5:1. Given that this is going in a daily driven street car, with EFI and a 4 speed, I'm a bit torn. For those of you that have built up the 198/2.2 setup in the past, just how much compression will it handle on the street, before pump gas becomes a major issue? FYI, the current buildup looks like this: 76 225 block Forged crank (0.000/0.010) 198 rods KB 2.2 turbo pistons (+18cc Dish) Double roller timing set Stand pipes in the lifter Valley 76 Head Ford 300 valves and seals Hardened seats Ported/polished 340 Springs I'd tell you about the injeciton setup, but I want to keep it under wraps for the time being. Any thoughts on the motor/compression issue? |

awesome! things are moving forward.... I'll keep my lips zipped on your 'idea', it's really awesome and simple if you can pull it off...it also gives me another thing to look for in the 'other' local yard.... -D.Idiot |

What cam are you going to use? Static compression / cylinder pressure and cam numbers go hand-in-hand. DD |

I'm going to order the cam once I've got everything else figured... Match it to the rest of the hardware, as it were. |

Mine was running at about 11-1 on pump gas. The long rod seems to make the motor very resistant to detonation. I started with a 268*/.460" Racer Brown and ended up with a .528" Mopar cam. |

I have 12.5 to 1 in the one I'm building now, running an Isky 505 cam. (.505 lift) my guess is that it will have 195 psi of cranking cylinder pressure, I plan to run this one on race gas . DD http://www.dutra.org/pictures/engine/du ... slant6.jpg |
