I have 2 new ball joints here without the original packaging. I am sure they are for an A body, probably a 68 Barracuda. How many different upper ball joints are there? Are the ones for the 10' drums and discs the same? Could the 9" drum ones also fit the 10" spindles? The tapered part of the stud seems to taper from .600 to .510 od. |

Pretty sure the uppers were all the same until '73 when the big bolt discs came along. |

Quick look on RockAuto shows what appears to be only 1 upper, but different lowers. IIRC, the main difference in the lowers is one type has threaded bolt holes and the other takes a bolt and nut. |

There is one 1960-1972 upper ball joint, MOOG K704. 1973 brought the larger upper ball joint as used on bigger cars. When I converted my 10" drum '66 Barracuda to late (1973+) drum spindles I torched out the small upper ball joint socket and welded in the larger one. Buyer's Guide : MOOG K704 Ball Joint DODGE DART 1963-1972 DODGE LANCER 1961-1962 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA 1964-1969 PLYMOUTH DUSTER 1970-1972 PLYMOUTH SCAMP 1971-1972 PLYMOUTH VALIANT 1960-1972 There are 3 different lowers depending on 9" drum, 10" drum or for '66-'72 disc brakes. The bolt spacing where they attach to the spindle is different and the 9" drum ball joints and spindles used a smaller bolt. |

One way to tell them apart is to measure across the flats on top. The 73+ upper disc brake joint is 1 7/8" across, while the earlier style is smaller, maybe 1 3/4". I don't have an early one to measure, so that one is a guess. I know that the MOOG T412 socket I have that fits the large size will just barely grab a small one. |
