Boy those rockers do look good! What cam specs/compression/head work, etc. are you using? Inquiring minds and all that ya know. |

Nothing fancy. I'm decking the block/head by a total of .100" which will give an effective increase of about .080" since the head gasket is thicker by .020". I am counting on the decking to give 'more' compression, though I am not going to know what it is until I get the pieces back from the machine shop and measure it. From all the other guys who have done this I am sure it will be 'close enough'. As for cam, I am using the Oregon Cam grind 818 which is a 211 Deg @ .050" lift and .431 lift. That's about 10% 'more' than stock on lift. Good enough. The head is stock, new valves, guides and Comp Cam springs. I'll do some port cleanup in the bowl area once it's back from the machine shop but not touching the ports otherwise. The intake and exhaust will be stock....I can always play with those once the car is running if I feel like it. This engine rebuild is a project I undertook for no reason other than to hear it run. I don't need yet another car, and I doubt I'll put more than 1000 miles a year on it. Maybe I'll end up selling the engine ...but not until I putt around a bit. |

I have a set of RAS rebuilts on my Valiant. They are almost 20 years old and have been on multiple engines. Most of the time they are dealing with .550+" lift. Best $100 I ever spent. |

I'm not anti-roller, but roller tip rockers are greatly overrated compared to flat tips. I have a set of Crane flat tip rockers on a big block that have lasted 28+ years and they still look great. Never had to worry about a roller axle popping out either. |

I have a set of the Cox/RAS 1.6 roller tips that I have also had for years. The biggest advantage to them is they look really cool when you adjust them. I have run thdm back to back against my rebuilts and saw 0 gain/loss. |
