Hey I just rebuilt my 225 slant 6 it is about ready to start but has little to no spark. I timing is correct (I double checked that it was correct). I checked the primary coil and got about 1 ohms and about 10.5K ohms on the secondary coil. From what I have seen my coil should be good. I also checked my ballast resistor and got about 1.5 ohms between the two terminals. This also looks that it is good. I have new spark plugs that are gaped to .035. I have also not changed anything with the distributor or cap. I am wondering what else I should do, or if anyone has more suggestions. |

What year ignition? Mopar electronic? Check for proper wiring to the coil. I always have a good spare electronic ignition module on hand, as those aftermarket ones fail regularly. Maybe check that your firewall connectors are tight too. |

What do you mean by "little to no spark?" What symptoms are you seeing? I agree with checking the wiring. Are you getting 12v to the coil? Also check the contacts on the cap and rotor; I've had a car suddenly fail to start due to what turned out to be slow corrosion buildup on the contacts on the underside of the cap. |

Internally resisted coils do not require an external ballast resistor. It should state which version it is on the outer part of the canister. ~THOR~ |

How did you check for spark? If I have a no start I do it by taking an incandescent test light, connecting it to ground, unplugging one plug wire and placing the tip of the test light close to the plug wire end (not touching) and ask somebody to crank the engine while observing if there is a spark jumping the gap between the plug wire and test light tip. CAUTION! Keep your test light tip closest to the spark plug wire, not your hand. Also make sure that your ground fot the test light is good by touching it to the battery positive. |
