For the last year or so there has been a womp, womp, womp sound the increases and slows with speed of vehicle. I thought is was right front wheel bearing, so replaced both inner and outer the other day and noise is still there.

Plan B:

8 3/4 suregrip with green bearings, 10" skinny drum:
With car's rear wheels jacked off floor, wheel speed ~30 mph, womp womp is coming from rt rear. Also brake shoe seems to be dragging intermittently during each manual rotation of wheel. Tire exhibits run-out when rotating indicting it, and or rim is out of round. Tires are on last legs, more than 10 years old (were mounted on car when I purchased it in 2008, and I have rolled on 25K miles since than.

So I suspect green bearings that were most likely installed when this car was built into a drag queen during the early 90's, which probably are approaching their cycles to failure point,and are the cause of the noise.

This car came factory equipped with Kelsey Hayes disks, and the front spindles are worn such that inner bearing race is loose on its spindle.

As far as I know there are no new after market K-H spindles available for a 67 Dart, but one can easily source new spindles included with after market disk brake kits that use a single piston caliper similar to the late A or B type Mopar used.

Seeing how 14" tire selection is not getting any more plentiful these days, and there are few new 5x4" bolt pattern wheels to be had I am toying with converting to to 5x4 1/2 or whatever Chrysler uses, and going to a 15 or perhaps 17" wheels and tires.

Because of bad rims, tentative wheel bearing problem, worn out tires, and sloppy spindles
I'm contemplating getting new rear axles (I probably need new green bearings anyway) with large bolt pattern, and front brake and wheel upgrade.

Any thoughts on the womp, womp sound, and or the up grade on wheels, brakes, spindles and axles?

I had the womp womp womp on my station wagon and it was the wheel bearings. But rather than install new ones I just swapped rear ends. If I was in your shoes I'd stick with the original bolt pattern and just put in new bearings or swap rears, but then again I'm a cheapskate and wouldn't want to swap brakes, wheels, etc because of the cost. But if your wheels need replaced anyway, it's a perfect time to swap all that out.

when I changed the 68 Barracuda over to LBP / 8.75 I went with Dr Diff's axels and green bearings. This has been probably 6 years ago, then his pricing was very competitive.
You will need to look to see where it is now.
I also went with his rear disk brake package, uses a DR Diff proprietary caliper bracket with Mustang Cobra calipers and a Toyota disk. With out much effort I was able to sell the
8.75 SBP axels, rear drums, backing plates and shoes - hardware and re coupe a portion of my spend.

Bill; Can you/have you, swapped that suspect tire/rim to the front, even if only for testing purposes, to eliminate a tire/rim problem? That task takes only time and energy, and will confirm if it's from the axle or tire & rim.

I have not swapped tires around recently. Several years ago I had a lot of front end shaking, more than usual for a rag top, and now that I have had some time to think about it I had both front tires moved to the rear during a front end alignment and that dampened the dancing front end.

I too am a cheep skate, but there seems to be several things a miss with wheels spindles tires that need to be addressed as a whole, so I'll probably start acquiring the various bits and pieces needed over the summer. Dr Diff axles are the lesser cost of the parts needed, and I'm entertaining adding rear disk brakes.

My IH truck project was hard on my black-ops money in December. Had two rear 12" drums sleeved; who knew that IH big six rear drums used on 3/4 ton trucks are not available, new or used in any condition.

I think where that car sits stored for six to seven months each winter has not been beneficial to the old tires.

I usually put the old stuff away around mid November with the exception of Mrs wjajr, and last week of April they come out after the snow, road salt, sand, melt water, and frost heaves, are gone. Guess I miss counted, more like 5 1/2 months for the Dart, this winter seemed a lot longer, snow came early November, and last snow storm was mid April. This year we are having a cold wet spring, there are still trees around without their new leaves. Saturday was the second mowing of the lawn.

Not to worry, we're having a bumper black fly crop this year; mosquito, and lime infested ticks probably will be plentiful as well. I didn't get the LeBaron on the road until last week, it was put up early October, just like the zero turn.

Summer is just one month away.

I have decided to pull the trigger on new spindle/knuckles which requires replacing the factory K&H disk and caliper with single piston and disk used on later A and later small bodies; these are large bolt pattern. New 8 3/4" rear axles also large bolt pattern to accommodate disk brake conversion to replace the 10x1 3/4" drums.

Also I would like to install a brake booster if I can get enough idle vacuum from recently installed OCG #346 to operate the device. From what I have found, vacuum booster needs 18 inches at idle to work properly.

New rims; size and back spacing to be determined. Currently running 205/70 14 which yields 60 mph @ 60 mph. I may want a taller perhaps wider tire on 15" or 17" rim.

I'll probably go with Dr Diff. Their pricing looks to be competitive.

I need to give OCG a call to ask what they think the #346 torque curve looks like as it seems to be lower rpm cam than the one it replaced.

Any ideas welcome

Several weeks ago I did the axle swap to LBP, and sure enough one of the Greene Bearings on the old axles was starting get a little gritty. They have been installed since 1992 or perhaps earlier, and probably have about 100,000 miles on them.
