Post subject:  dutra dual instal info needed...

i finally got the cash saved to buy the dutra duals...looks like aussispeed is the only place to order unless yall know of any other source...i plan on going with either a clifford or offy 4 bbl intake and need to know if i need to order the batwing washers from aussiespeed as well??are they different than the factory ones? also,whats the prefered gasket to use? will i be needing longer manifold to block studs? trying to get answers on what all i will need to get this done....and finally...this is for a 87 dodge b150 VAN with tight quarters under the engine cal and very little real-estate under van for any elaborate exhaust system....would like to run the duals to some patriot sidepipes to have the oldschool boogie van look but definately do not want a lousy rice burner sound or annoying drone at hiway speed....i really could use some help with exhaust build details that will give a decent throaty sound and performance....feel free to share your build details of what intake,carb and exhaust setup you used and the results as this may help another newbie looking to do same thing in a boogie van...thanks guys

It has been awhile ago, however I was able to track down this photo of the exhaust system that I installed on the D150 using Dual Dutra's
Many folks y the two pipes together some what close to the manifolds. I wanted to simulate long tube headers with the collector moved out.
IIRC the two head pipes are each 31 inches long. The pipes then make a 90 and flow into a Y pipe make another 90 and flow through a Flowmaster 60
then exit the side of the truck right behind the muffler. I used Remflex gaskets at the head and the manifold flanges.

You will never mistake it for a v8, this slant has a has definite snarl to it, does not drone at highway speeds.
I used the standard bat wings and studs. Recommend mocking up the manifolds and intake on the head - block
prior to installation, if the engine is out of the vehicle.

I had heard that Aussie Speed fixed the interference issues, watch at the rear side lugs, near the headface.

the intake is a Mopar Performance cast aluminum 2bbl, Holly 2280 carb, small cam,, 212 @ .050, I set the motor up for low RPM torque,
Its no drag racer, but was not set up that way, pulls hard from 1800 to 4000 RPM, I have 35,000 miles on the truck-engine since it was
all rebuilt. I am sure the under side of the D150 is not as clean now as it is in this photo, heck, my garage floor is not that clean today....
