Can a pressure plate be blanchard ground like a flywheel? I have one that i want to use but its a little raunchy. Its not made any more and doubtful that i could get one. Greg |

̶Y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ decades ago I worked in a place (VW engine rebuilding shop) where I occasionally ran a Blanchard grinder. I'll say that the pressure plate could be ground but would have to be disassembled so only the plate itself was mounted in the machine. It might take some additional or special fixture to hold it. If you imagine whatever it would take to hold the plate in a lathe to be turned - holding it in a Blanchard would be similar. If the bare plate is machined flat on the back side that makes it simple. Most Blanchard grinders have a magnetic chuck base. The flat back is held by the magnets and the grinding is done on the front face. |

I agree with Pro Cycle...it would need to be disassembled. As much as I like to do stuff myself...it might be best and cheapest to send it to McLeod or someone like that who could take it apart, resurface it, and put it back together. I'm thinking you'll spend more time and money setting up to do this than they would charge. Around here...even Blanchard grinding, an economical method, has gotten pricey. Unless of course you have one.... |

Seymour told me that he has had PP's resurfaced at Rochester Clutch and I bet McLeod would do it, esp if it is a McLeod PP. Lou |

I'd ask mcleod for options. It might be more cost effective (and cheaper) for them to just change the plate. |

Make sure you don't ask McCloud. He's really touchy about clutch questions. |
