What size o-ring does the shift cable on a 1963 A904 use?

I cleaned the transmission fluid from the shift cable adjusting wheel area and the cable and tie-wrapped a paper towel around the cable.
A week later, the paper towel is still dry and the adjusting wheel and surrounding area is wet.
It is definitely the o-ring behind the adjusting wheel.

Does anyone know the part number or size o-ring that is used?

I don't know the size. I just bought an assortment at the auto parts store and picked one that fit.

I've had to do this a couple of times now. There are a lot of O rings that look like they would fit, only to leak like a sieve when installed.

What I ended up doing was buying a #91 O ring and wallowing out the inside just a bit with a fine sanding disk on a Dremel. Keep the Dremel moving and only take off enough rubber to make it barely small enough to slip it into the bore on the transmission case.

I have done two transmissions this way and both of them are holding so far.

Do you mean a small sanding drum?

I do mean a standing drum. Thanks for catching that error.

Thanks. I'm going to try that as soon as dry weather returns.
