I have a 6 with a hotter cam (.50 intake lift) in my d150. I do not know the duration of the cam. I got this engine from someone who had it lying about for some 20+ years... it had been running well after putting it in but after a manifold leak and retightening that down and fiddling with the carburetor (Carter bbd 2bbl) it now idles down on it’s own after sitting for a bit... like at a stop sign... it has stalled out on me a few times. Am I dealing with issues with the carb I rebuilt? Could my vacuum pump needles not be set low enough and too much fuel is drowning it out... or could it be my distributor governor springs not strong enough? (The advance seems to ease off on its own too but I’m thinking that is just due to the idle dropping) ... also it is a vacuum advance distributor and my idle screw is down pretty far. |

Check for a vacuum leak at the throttle shaft. What you describe is classic BBD with worn throttle shaft bores. |

X2 what slantzilla said... seen too many of them like that. Also, might want to verify if it's a Slant BBD or a 318 BBD. There's a thread on the board which shows the distinct differences. ~THOR~ |
