Steve Adams and I went and picked up another slant six wannabe race car. 1968 Valiant 2dr sdn. Already had Mopar 6-1 headers, super six intake/carb, electronic ign, after market bucket seats, and floor shifter for the 904. Seems like the 7 1/4 rear has broken spiders, but that shouldn't be an issue, as between us we have several donor rears available. Body is kind of rough, as the car has been sitting for many years, but the engine has oil, and water in it and not mixed. Turns over by hand, so not seized, and trans fluid is red and not burned. Has tach, and aftermarket gauges. It was given to us by Cecil Higgenbottom's (slant cecil) family. Hope to try and start her in the next couple of days.

Sorry, Matt. I'm tech challenged. Can't do pics.

Text is a no go for me. I will see if I can get some on my not used smart phone, in the next couple of days, and then send them somewhere.

It lives, and really doesn't sound bad at all. It has a 318 bbd carb, that seems to work OK except for the accelerator pump. Idles good, sounds good at raised RPM, but can't open the throttle very fast. 40 psi oil pressure, at idle after about 20 minutes running, and about 160 on the temp gauge. No oddball noises. Trans goes in gear but that's all I can tell, as it is still tied down on the trailer. Floor shifter needs lubing very badly (stiff). Brake pedal goes to the floor (no fluid), but it does have a newer two bolt dual master cyl, and a line lock.

Always exciting to bring an engine back to life. Maybe we will see this one at a race next year!

Possibly, Still needs a fair amount of work, but now, we have a slant six "racecar" for Steves' son Steven. The main problem is the distance we need to travel. All the slant six races are more then 500 miles away. It is hard for Steven to coordinate days off. He works 12 on and 12 off, plus many weekends.

Added brake fluid, and now have some pedal. Will need to do a full brake exam, but at least it should stop when moving it around. Shifter is a Hurst quarter stick. Got it lubed up and working freely. It is reverse pattern, so evidently the trans has a reverse pattern manual valve body. Now I am wondering if it has some kind of higher stall converter. Steve has a 8 3/4 rear, with 3.91 open gears, so will probably get a spool from Dr. Diff, and put that in.
