Hi, Do you guys have any recommendations on books to purchase for the slant 6 and the A833 manual transmission? I've found some that look good, but figured I'd ask before spending $50-$60 bucks. Thanks, Paul |

Doc has published a slant six hand book. It has received good reviews. here is a link to one seller of that book, notice on the web page there is also a posting on an a833 manual. https://www.amazon.com/Chrysler-Slant-S ... 1613254326 I like a Factory Service Manual. Keep an eye on e bay or there are auto book dealers that have them available. FSM are also available online, I like the hard copy. Forums like this one are also good sources. For the a833 rebuild, the FSM will have information and there are probably also you tube videos. |

Doc Dodge book is a must. A-833OD rebuild can be found cheaply in the 1976 or 1978 FSM...(the 1976 FSM will also cover the forged crank slant six in it's engine section (same as the 1973 or 4 engine you have, the 1978 will cover the mechanical lifter cast crank slant in it's engine section). These go for about $6-$15 on ebay regularly. That being said... the FSM has a number of steps requiring a set of factory specific dowels, clamp plier, etc...that aren't available, so you will have to improvise. A number of mopar magazines in years past have had Doug Ahern's rebuild articles in them, I notice that Passon has an SA Performance book covering the topic now out (I don't have yet, so I can't say if it's worth the price or not...but he is an expert on rebuilding them...) Good Luck. |

As soon as you can, get the three books listed in this thread. |
