Hello everyone.
I have an engine in my dad's barn and I am trying to get some information about it. I know it is a slant six and my dad thought that it may have come out of a combine but is not sure.
I would like to sell it but don't know enough to list and not sure where to go for info.

The numbers on the engine are:

12086:
2463460-16

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Julie

That sounds like a forged-crank 225 from 1960-1967; how many freeze plugs does it have on the same side as that number?

Unfortunately the casting numbers can only tell you so much. If you want more specific information, you need the stamped numbers from the block deck surface. These will be on a small part of the block that sticks out from under the head on the front passenger side of the engine, usually hidden under a layer of grime. It's not likely, but if the block deck has ever been machined during an overhaul, these numbers will be lost.

Thanks! I'll see if I can get those numbers.
