Do carb spacers work on a slant? I see that aussie makes a whole bunch of different intake manifolds looking for an intake for drag racing |

For drag racing and a 4 barrel you will do best looking for a Clifford manifold. |

The Clifford 4 bbl intake has the biggest runner cross sections and has been proved at the drags. Aussiespeeds will work, but they gave up top end in all of my testing on their long and short runner intakes. Too bad they have not increased runner area as otherwise the intakes are very nice. Lou |

I think the factory Hyper Pak would have the largest plenum. What do you folks think is the reason not any N.A. "Quick" drag cars don't use it? Too hard and costly to purchase? And by quick I mean 11s or faster. And I am not picking on any slant racer or their times, I know how hard it is to go fast with a slant. Please correct me if I am incorrect on this subject. I don't know if I have seen one in the 11's with an Hyper Pak or a Doug Dutra recast manifold. The Hyper Pak was not designed as a Drag Race manifold. |

Mike Jeffrey told me he and Blaine tried one on a 235 ci motor and it just plain was done making power at 5500. |

Hyperpaks have tremendous torque in the 1800-3800rpm range but fall off immensely after that. 4 barrels on a slant in reality of performance are just sort of goofy. The air has to turn 90* before entering the intake tract. Itb's or webber carbs on a short runner no plenum intake are prolly best for top end. Will be interesting to see what the 8bbl muller/hogan intake does/ performs. Lou also has an interesting intake from Mike that i would like to see some dyno time / testing on. If i remember correct its a pretty big plenum. Greg |

The Offy is a good street intake with its smaller cross section runners and the heat box which accommodates a stock exhaust manifold. |

This is why I want to try one on my 76 D100 once I convert it to port fuel injection. My truck never sees the high sinde of 3600 RPM, even though it has 3.9 rear gears.

My 69 dart has 3.23 gears now and its a blast on the twistys and autocross with the big cam. Greg |
