Does anyone know the part number for a Robertshaw 180 thermostat for the Slant 6? (Mine is a 1984 ) Best I can come up with is their 330-180, but their application guide shows it for up to 1968 only Thanks! |

If it fits a 68 slant it will fit an 84 slant. Same thermostat housing. |

IIRC, it is the same tstat as the later Magnum SB V8 engines. Lou |

The thermostat worth getting is the Stant SuperStat—that's this one—not the Robertshaw Flowcooler (which will not fit a Slant-6, anyway—sleeve diameter's too large). Read this. |

I'll also vouch for the Stant Super stat as a good robust piece. I put one in my '82 truck more than two years ago. I went with a 180F unit vs. 195 OEM. That was cutting it close when I still had the lean burn system, as one of the parameters, I think, was 170F coolant for full ignition advance. Lean burn is gone and the 180 seems to working out fine. It does seem to take considerably longer to get up to full operating temp with the 180 super stat, as I believe it features more bleed through as it warms up. If my OEM coolant gauge is to be believed, it does a good job of keeping the coolant temp pretty steady with only a 4 blade death fan and no fan clutch. That same bleed through feature does seem to provide a little cabin heat more quickly despite the slower warm up. |

Put on a robertshaww 330 series 180 thermostat today, it did not work as the opening is not big enough to allow it to open. Learned the hard way, over heated, long day!! I've got the above mentioned Stant and a new felpro gasket on its way. Should of listened to SlantSixDan and Charrlie_s Thanks by the way for all the help.
