How many quarts are needed to change oil in a 225 slant? My manual (Dodge A100 Trucks and Vans) says a 225 slant oil change uses 4 quarts plus some for the filter. I changed oil and filter, put in 4 quarts, short. Put in the 5th quart, still a quart shy. Now I don't trust my dipstick. What do you think??? Thanks! Gary |

My 83 D150 with a tall filter takes nearly 6 quarts to get oil level to the full mark. |

Most cars take 5, but like John said, my truck takes nearly 6 to fill it. Mine is an 85 D100 |

Trucks /vans usually 6 qts.. with filter. Cars usually 5 qts with filter. If the stick says add then add. Unless the dipstick is not matched to the pan somehow.. if that's the case I would say 6 qts will be okay unless you are autocrossing or doing other extreme driving. Greg |
