Hi guys, does anyone know of a service that can rebuild vacuum motors for the heater / ac box? After 233,000 miles one on my 79 (Volare) duster needs rebuilt or replaced. These 70's-90's mopars with ac all have them but I am not sure of interchangeability. The motors i am referencing are like a carb choke pull off but about 3" in diameter. Thanks for any help! Greg |

Hmm.I dont know yet Charlie.. I need to pull it all apart and off the firewall, and pop the top off the box. I think some are inside as well. Greg |

None inside that I recall. Should be able to check them with a "mity-vac", from under the dash.

Finally got to this project recently. Heater core went out so the whole heater box had to come out. The one I need Charrlie is a 2 way mode actuator for the volare with air.. might be the same as the diplomats thru '89. Must take heater box out of car and open up the top of the box to access mounting nuts inside box. It has 2 vacuum connections and changes air flow from heat/ def to vent positions. I only have dash vents ... heat / def will not activate. MoPar part # 3846005 Greg |

that is a weak point on the systems 44 years on now.. the actuator that I need to replace is a 2 way one pulls vacuum on both sides.. and the up side lifting the door..which routes air to the heat / defrost circuit fails. Charrlie is hunting for spares.. fortunately I did find an NOS one... so if it lasts 40 more years I will be thrilled. Prolly don't want do this job again when I am 80 but if I have to I will. I will investigate rebuilding these things.. hmm.. maybe time to investigate a Chrysler or letter car / imperial forum.. Greg |

Which week is the Nats? I will be going right by Murray Park next week, (the "C" body guy, he does have a few goodies for other Mopars) stopped there once while in the area and it happened to be Mopar Nats week, left message on their phone, his wife came down and met us.... (I'd said I was passing thru from 2 states away, I think she took it as I came out there "just to go see them") wasn't the case, was out there for the annual Apache popup camper roundup a couple towns away, been going to that for ~8 years now. |

Might spend a few minutes mousing around on this page and see if you spot one that might be swapped in. |
