NEED 122 tooth flywheel for early /6. Also what's the biggest clutch I can run in this 3743643-1aluminum bellhousing in front of A833od trans.

You can run the 9 1/4" or 10"...neither will not last long in front of a hipo slant six. For daily driving both are fine.

250 plus HP I hope. Thinking about hydraulic throwout bearing setup to help with exhaust clearance. And a higher clamping power clutch set up? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

A couple of thoughts. Did McLeod buy Weber? If so maybe they can make you the old 9.5 B&B that used to work pretty good.
Old flywheels can be trouble. Heat cracks in a 50 year old part are no joke.
Clifford used to make a steel billet 122 tooth flywheel, I know because I bought one years ago, but sold it and don't know where it went.
HP is one thing, but big sticky tires and race gears are when I start to worry.

Wilcap will make alum and steel flywheels. Hard to know if McLeod would make another run of their excellent 9" PPs, but I bet if you said you had 10 buyers they would do it. I would buy 2 of them right now. I have 250 HP in front of one of these and never hurt it (high 13 sec car at 2900 lbs racewt). Seymour's car has the same - going strong. There are recent (last year or so) clutch threads on this site if you search.

Best,
Lou

Yes, that was to do a run of the bolt in diaphragm unit that ran so well in Ryan's Dart. I figured we could get 10 -15 sets, maybe even 20 but not 50 sets.

I'm sorry, Flywheels are available. The clutch and pressure plate is what I was talking about.

That is why I will be going to a 10.5" one in my race car, with a blow poof of course. :D :D

What do y'all think about this clutch. Also McLeod will make flywheel one at a time for 600. & Wilcap for 450.

I believe someone had mentioned them and their clutches, but I don't know that any one has tried them?

Post subject:  Re: Flywheel

I don't think anyone has tried one yet. The worries with them were "drop shipped from manufacturer" and the prices and "versions"
line up with the Spec Clutch pricing and they also outsourced those clutches from someone else...so these might come from that source...
so buyer beware. Pictures in their catalog would have helped...like Rick the 10.5" small block clutch should hold against that punishment,
the spec clutches won't...the main issue with the 10.5" aftermarket bell is the lack of access plate for daily driving maintenance without
having to remove the tranny and bell... FYI.

I have the QT bell, which is one piece without an access cover. When used with a hydraulic TO bearing I don't see any need to maintain anything in the bell. Even with a fork type bearing, I'm not sure what you would need to do inside the bell as the adjustment is external. Access is always nice to have, but I'm not sure it's all that meaningful. My only complaint with the QT bell is they stopped selling them and I can't buy a second

If I were serious about a manual trans car...I'd go to great lengths to go to a 130 tooth flywheel and proper 10.5" clutch. It's a bit painful but once you do it, you're set with a strong clutch and lots of options.

And I gotta say....with the 'high performance' of a hyd TO bearing, I would have a hard time using a fork type setup at all, in any application other than a car I wanted to keep very original. Like if I had a mint 65 'cuda with a 4 speed and 273-4....
