Hi all, I attempted to start my engine up the other night and I did get somewhere with it. To recap, my engine is currentry out of the car and sitting on a stand. After fuel reached the carburator, I got some noise! However, it did not seem to be firing correctly as it would not run once I got off the starter. The best I did was get a constant burbling sound. I stopped trying to crank it once the starter started to smoke (oops). There was definitely some combustion going on as the engine got warm. Does this sound like a timing issue to you guys? I was going to try loosening the dirstibutor and adjusting it around for my next try. Paul |

Distributor timed to #1 compression stroke? Or, following the K.I.S.S. principle, check the wires going to the correct cylinders in the correct direction of distributor rotation? I say this 'cuz that's where I'd screw things up myself! |

Hi Louise, To adjust the distributor I loosen the lock nut underneath the distributor on the left side when looking at it correct? Paul |

(On my 1975 /6) technically, it is not a lock nut. It is a bolt through a clamp plate holding the base of the distributor tightly in place. Yes, loosen the clamp bolt to rotate the distributor. |
