The bellhousing is dependent upon the transmission used. If the 4x4 has the big transmission with the shifter in the top cover and the RWD truck has the smaller trans with the shifter on the side then they will use different bellhousings. If the RWD truck has the same trans as the 4x4 then the bell should also be the same.

I don't know what you're trying to do so let's start there.

Just trying to get my 86 going again by putting the engine from the 85 2wd into my 86 just having complications with the bellhousing at the moment.

The engine will interchange fine. If the RWD truck has the A833OD and the 4x4 an NP435 you will not be able to swap any of the flywheel, clutch or bellhousing. You haven't said what transmission is in each truck so I've said about all I can.

Is the shifter up through the middle of the floor and 3 feet long? Or does it come up along the left side of the hump and is 2 feet long? With chrome handle.
