A question for those that have assembled a leak free slant and used a crank scraper or two. I see the process as: 1) cleaning the pan rails and scrapers with a solvent to remove any residual oil 2) put a thin coat of oil resistant RTV (ultra black?) on the pan rail(s) and the rail side of the scraper and run in the oil pan bolts to hold the scraper in place till the RTV cures. Over night would be a good time assumption. Then remove the oil pan bolts. 3) and here is my question, do you install the cork rail gasket? Or do you super clean the oil pan gasket surface and use oil resistant RTV there also and leave the cork rail gasket out? Asking as it seems that with a cork gasket and the scraper thickness there would be enough thickness pick up that the compression on the front and rear rubber gaskets would be reduced. Please advise. |

John, Sounds good. I omitted the cork pan rail gaskets. I doubt leaving them in would work at the ends without tons of goop and good luck. I used "The Right Stuff" sealer on the last 1-2 of these I did, and I like it. Lou |
