Post subject:  1979 Slant 6 Valve Adjustment

So the '79 /6 Super 6 are to be adjusted like the older /6's??? Am I correct in this assumption. .010 I and .020 E while running.

Yep. If the rocker arms have adjusters, then you need to do the lash. They went to hydraulic (non-adjustable) in 1981. The only twist would be if someone swapped your motor over to a hydraulic cam and rocker assembly, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the quick response. 27k original miles. It has adjusters. I have to rig up some hose and wire pull ups. Its not like adjusting valves in my '61 Dodge Seneca with all the room in the world.

On my 79 Volare Wagon, I adjusted them hot, .010 intake, .020 exhaust. I adjusted them after the engine warmed up but not while it was running. That worked well for me.

I do mine by the manual. Running with SNOT FLYING. LOL

I have only done mile once at about 22,000 miles. Warm engine idling away, went OK just a little oil flying about.
