Had a digital electric cruise control years ago on a Ford van with a 3-speed stick. It had a magnetic pick-up zip-tied to the drive shaft and an electric servo pulling the throttle arm. Worked OK on the highway. Googled Summit racing's selection: they show that you may need to do some serious research. I did note that some of those offered had the driver's controls on the turn signal lever. If your 85 has the wipers & headlight dimmer on that lever, you may need a unit with the control module that sticky's on to the dashboard or somewhere convenient.

Thank you, it’s a tuff search, want to buy the correct unit the first time. Some universal units out there but to hook them up to a 600 Eldabrock carb ?? My trans mission has the connection spot to put cable , google search is not that specific ?

Those universal cruise controls come with several different ways to connect to the throttle. You are not going to find one that is specific to a 600 Edelbrock.

I've installed the Audiovox cruise control on a couple different vehicles with good results. On a Ford Festiva I couldn't come up with a good way to get the speed sensor onto one of the axles. Instead I set it up on one of the engine pulleys. That made for a neat and tidy installation but probably would not work well on a car with an automatic.

I put cruse control on the 83 D150, the unit was made by Rostra Precision Controls, they even have a selection of turn signal stalks that house the on off resume switches that look period correct.
it has been in the truck since 2012, no issues, still works fine.

I am running a Holly 2280 carb. There was nothing tricky about the carb / throttle linkage attachment.

When I did the cruse control install I was also in the process of installing a gauge cluster from a 1992 D150 in the 83 D150. By that point in time the speedometer cable had been eliminated and even though the speedometer looks about the same, and in fact the gauge cluster mounts into the dash the exact same was as my 83 or your 85 does, the speedometer was electrically driven by a VSS.
The VSS unit fits into an A833 or a 904/727 in place of the speedometer cable mount. Replaces it exactly. What is nice about that is the same signal that drives the speedo, also regulates the cruse control. So I did not have to do the magnets on the drive shaft trick,,,

O man thank you , I searched both those units, the range is 25 bucks to 300 dollars ?? From just a switch box and a few wires to a bunch of stuff when you get near the 300 dollar amount, I’ll have to contact manufacturer and get further advice. Thank you
