Any problems or down side to removing the shield by the dist and oil filter? |

It's there for a real good reason, to keep water and mud and other gunk from hitting the distributor. It weighs almost nothing. Why would you remove it? |

Because the crack between the bolt holes. If you remove it, drive slow thru deep puddles, or you will soak the distributor. |

I think the modern ignition systems have lessened the need for that shield. Not that I think they are a bad idea or anything. Because they aren't. I was just thinking about my truck. We drove back from a race in Bristol a couple of years ago in torrential rains for about 4-5 hours solid. Truck doesn't have a shield and never made a peep! I know I coudln't have done that with a points car! ![]() ![]() |

Anyone got a picture of one? I've never seen one and did not know such a thing exists. Both of my trucks are missing the shield as well, and I would like to make one.

The first picture in this article:http://www.slantsix.org/articles/Distri ... %20IIa.htm Shows the shield on the left side of the picture in relation to the distributor, it is held by 2 bolts mounting the oil pump. Thanks DI. I can create something like that. |

I have a few spare shields that could be mailed-out, if needed. Send me a PM if interested. DD |
