I am fixing couple of oil leaks.

At first. My 904 is dropping oil from the output shaft seal area. I bought a new seal but the inner diameter is way too big to yoke which I have. I dont know which year tranny or drive shaft are used as this car has a mix of them. What I have found is that Rockauto has same "A727" seal for all from 1966 to 1975.

The second. I have also leaking drive shaft. This rearend is originally 1966 but have afterwards got 10" drums. Rockauto is listing only one type for 1966. Is that the "small" one. I have not opened the wheel seal area yet so I dont have dimensions for that. Did all 1966 7.25" use same seal?

Local shops does not keep these in stock so I have order parts somewhere.

It might be helpful to post pics of what rear end and the back of the trans as there are variations in them.

Do you have a slip yoke style 904 or a flanged 904 on the transmission output.

Pics will help us get you the correct parts.

I have replaced the drive shaft seal now. Old one was National 484058 and what I got from shop was National 5124. It was not exactly the same and was quite hard to install (with sledgehammer). Problem solved (until oil comes out again).

I have slip yoke. It is 39,60mm in diameter. The seal for 66-72 cars is correct for the yoke. I dont know if the seal for 73- up cars is correct for the transmission tail. The removed seal is apprx 60mm in the mounting ring diameter.

Seems that I have kind a hybrid of parts. This come with the car 22 years ago to me. When I rebuild the transmission I didnt replace the seal (as I have not had one).

So I need a "conversion seal" which fits to 73- up transmission housing and is good for 66-72 yoke. The part removed from transmission does not have part numbers on it.

39.6 mm yoke = 1.56"
60mm installation hole in the transmission = 2.36"
