My 85 D150 Miser has the oil pressure and temperature warning lights in the dash. I’d like to swap the sending units and instrument cluster for one with oil pressure and temperature gauges. Does anyone know if the wire harness and connectors are the same, or should be harvested from the donor truck?

I know the temp gauge would be the same and as I remember I believe the wire for the bell style (with gauge) sending unit should be there. Most used both the idiot light style sending unit and the bell style when the truck had the oil gauge. the idiot light style will have 3 wires on it, 2 are related to the electric choke, the middle one would be the same as the one that youd need for the gauge style sending unit, get a "tee" and put both on "anyways" and just splice into that middle wire (bottom of the "U" as the 3 wires are arranged on that sending unit) to feed the gauge style sending unit.

Interesting. There are currently 3 temp senders/switches in the neighborhood. 1 small w 1 wire for warning light, 1 w a 3 wire plug, and one w 3? Vacuun lines. My initial impression was that the 3 wire plug and 3 hose vacuum switch were in the employ of the evil and recently deposed Lean Burn system.

The 1 for the warning light is the only one that you need to be worrying about for the gauge. And you won't have to do anything with it but put the gauge in.

My 84 D-100 just had a idiot light for oil pressure. I just pulled the instrument cluster, and installed the oil pressure gauge (I think that was from a 88 D-150) in the cluster, installed the correct sender for the gauge, instead of the switch for the light on the engine. Reinstalled the cluster. No wiring changes required. I don't know for sure, but I think the same procedure would apply to the temp.
