If what you're saying is true about the newer module being triggered by a 5V square wave you'll need to come up with the 5V externally and feed it to the module. 12V as shown will likely kill the module. This will be far easier if the module is triggered on the rising edge as the points will pull the signal low and it will go high when the points open. If this doesn't make sense then you'll need to do some study. Why try to make the newer module work anyhow when the older style is known to work? |

I am thinking about an application for an older motor that does not have an upgrade to a magnetic pickup to fire the HEI. I know that Pertronix may be an option, but I like the idea of low-buck parts from the wreckers. |
