So far looks like this winter I am rebuilding my engine and am looking to upgrade manifolds. I am curious how much play is in the stock throttle on my 64 Dart with 225. Looks like an Offy 5041 was made for this linkage but I am also looking at an Aussiespeed manifold with a 2bbl Weber. Aussie manifold is longer but the Weber 2bbl carbs link to the barrel closet to the head instead of center of carb. Throttle should be able to connect but I want to know how far from original position the linkage at the carb connecting point can be moved. Was the same rod used on 170 engines? If so the throttle moves over an inch and still works from that.

Just trying to sort out ideas in my head before I start changing things on the engine. Not wanting to switch to a cable throttle though.

There is an enormous amount of real estate between a build for which a 2×1bbl intake setup is appropriate and a build for which an AussieSpeed intake is appropriate. Deciding how you're going to use the car (grocery getter? Rallye car? Drag racer? Parades and shows?) and making a detailed list of what you want the car to do and not-do, and do differently, and do how much/how little/how fast, and what your budget looks like for making it all happen—those are much better first steps to picking an induction system than worrying about details of how the stock throttle linkage works.
