Post subject:  Holley 6299-1 / 390 CFM Carb - Gaskets

I picked up a 390 CFM Holley 6299-1 carb in decent shape, but in need of an overhaul.

Does anyone know the proper gasket rebuild kit number to use?

•Holley is recommending 37-1539 or the trick-kit 37-933 at more than $130 each
•Speedway Motors is saying the 37-720 would work and costs almost $100 less than either option above
•Will the kit for the 0-8007 work?

Recommendations welcome.

Thanks in advance - have a super weekend everyone!

Post subject:  Re: Holley 6299-1 / 390 CFM Carb - Which Gasket Kit?

As a follow-up… I found an unopened NOS Holley Renew Kit (37-654) which should arrive soon. I'm planning on using this as a template to source in-stock Holley gaskets, but so far, learned the following.

The 6299-1 can use the Holley Renew Kit from the 0-8007 carb, but you need to order two additional gaskets below for a proper fit.
108-89-2 Primary Metering Block Gasket - blue (reusable) gaskets for use without the accelerator transfer tube
108-28-2 Secondary Metering Plate Gasket - these are single-use fiber gaskets (old school)

You'll likely need the thin metal Secondary Sealing Plate (#108-122) too (easy to warp when removing), it's not included in the rebuild kit.

The primary jets for the 6299 are 0.050 whereas the 8007 is 0.051, but you're likely to change this from these stock sizing's if you're reading this.

If anyone is interested, I'll follow up when I confirm a match for everything. The value here is to find in-stock parts, and not pay $138. So far, the cost for everything above is $68 (a $70 savings).
