Hello, My name is Jay and I recently picked up a 1966 Dodge Dart GT project. This is my first old car since my 67 Dart GT when I was a teen, many years ago. My 225 came with a lot of missing parts, all I have been able to figure out but one has me stumped. Hopefully you can view the picture of the area I marked in yellow. If not, its a 2 inch by 1.5 inch pockets with two bolts, on the top of i believe the exhaust manifold. What is supposed to go in that location? Im sure I'll have lots more questions as I get into this engine and car. Great reading your posts and thank you.

Your image didn't post, but it sounds like you're talking about the choke thermostat. We'll need to see an image or two, because there were different kinds of choke thermostat and different kinds of exhaust manifold over the years and they're not all interchangeable.

Meanwhile, as soon as you can, get the three books listed in this thread. Find tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this post. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download. And see this thread, too.

Thanks for the information Dan, I think you're right on the money with the choke thermostat after looking up pictures of one. Hope I can find one for a Holley 1920 List 2998, I've already had some trouble finding a float for that same carb in the 7.5 gram size. I'm learning that half the fun/battle is finding parts!!

Old Car Parts Northwest probably has an original-type choke thermostat for you (no need to cite the carb number, just state '66 Dart with 225 engine and Holley 1920 carburetor), or get a № 1231 electric choke kit, which allows for easier adjustment (no need to remove in order to adjust).

Carb float: see here
