I hope I didn't get too many hopes up, it's for a Ford Six. Just got a set of Clifford street rod headers, in the box was a flyer for their new FI system for 6s. At the bottom of the page it mentions a new Clifford crossflow aluminum head for the 200-250 Ford Six due in the fall. If it is successful for Clifford, can a Slant Six head follow it? Hope so.

Cecil

Knowing Clifford, it would cost an arm & leg, and then another pinkie or thumb for special valvetrain components because they purposely made it so stock parts wouldn't fit.

I'd love a head with exhaust on the other side but I'm not sure how that would pan out with the distributor and oil pump there.

Sounds like the head is for the bigblock, I would have hoped the small, which unfortunatly had the the intake manifold, as part of the head casting. ( but I prefered that engine). Just brought my third ported /6 head for seat and guide installation, It's getting easyer and I might concider doing it for other slant owners but I know I can't risk inhaling that much nickle/iron, come on Clifford! give us a break! or at least get wise to the demographics, how many Falcons can there be? and the six will never be a popular engine to the owners of the mustang body make overs of the little bird.

I wonder if Clifford is just importing the Aussi crossflow aluminum head for the small block. Jack Collins, (mustangsix)had posted somthing about this some time back. Looked for the info but couldn't find it.

I don't think the Australian Ford Crossflow head will bolt onto the American block. I know Jack was doing some "testing" to see if he could get it to work. I think the locost project may have delayed the out come. There is a gent down there, that has a DOHC crossflow head the bolts onto the Ford block and the Holden block. Ford apparently made some aluminum crossflow heads for the 300 engine. I guess these were sold to UPS for the brown vans. One on the inliners has one on his rail job. I guess they are as common as the aluminum \6 head.

Perhaps if everything were a little more squat, or if the hood was modified, an intake that goes over the valve cover to the right side of the engine would work. That's how the straight six in my truck is set up.

That's a bongload of custom work though. You're talking developing a whole new cylinder head and intake manifold...

Naw, the whole point of having the exhaust on the other side is so you dont ahve to mess with the exhaust if you want to swap out intakes. I hate messing with the headers, and changing the collecter gaskets every time I want to take out the intake. Especially after they got coated.

The real reason for a crossflow design is so you can have larger ports. If you only have 6 down the side they can be physically larger then if you have 12 on the same amount of real estate.

I would think getting the exhaust heat away from the intake is an added boon as well... But where ya gonna put it on a slant 6?? Hey, I got an idea. Let's straighten a slant 6 out and stand it straight up!

The aluminum Aussie crossflw head is not a direct bolt on to the US block, but I've come up with a way to mod the water passages that I think will work.

The big advantage is the tremendous increase in airflow and velocity over the stock iron head. The stock flow numbers should support over 200 naturally aspirated hp on a 200 block, and the flow numbers on a fully ported race head might take a 200 to over 300 hp, naturally aspirated, if you could afford to do it.

Biggest problem I'm having (but I think I have a fix) is the fact that the stock distributor interferes with all stock intake manifolds.
