I just got a used timing light, and have no clue how to use it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hook the timing light into the number 1 spark plug wire and point the light at the timing mark / tab.

You should clean-off the timing marks and makk the small line with white paint or chalk to see where the timing is set.

Once you see the mark, you can move it by loosening the distributor and rotating it a small amount.

what kind of timing light?
most have 3 or 4 leads, one + goes to the battery + (red color) one - goes to the battery - (black lead) and the little box which like doc said has to clip over the number one sparkplug wire, there can be an arrow on it, the arrow must point towards the engine when attached.some have a build in RPM meter and theats what the forth wire is all about. this one has to be attched to the - on the coil.
