This is something that I do on all my vehicles, add to the engine and transmission drain plugs. Rod magnets are cheap,, drill a close fitting hole into the drain plug, add a drop of high temperature epoxy, insert the magnet. You may find a small 'furry hat' at the magnet tip when the drain plug is removed for service,, if it ever is a lot bigger, you know something changed, or needs to change. https://www.amazingmagnets.com/t-neodym ... gLBPPD_BwE.

I have a magnetic drain plug, but not a DIY version. The magnet is very strong. So strong that getting the plug back in the hole requires a little finesse. https://goldplug.com/ |

I put Magnets on the Oil Filter too.. Just a nice big ceramic magnet from an old speaker or something usually works... you can buy a filter mag for some Ca$h too. Greg |

I keep meaning to put some of these magnetic drain plugs and oil filter covers ion my cars, along with one of those radiator fluid filters. It would be interesting to see what it collects over time. |
