Okay after hours of old post reading and talking to my machinist the S B Ford valves seem to be the best choice the glitch is he doesn't think that valves should be cut more than .050-.060 these will be stainless valves dose that make a difference? and have any of you had problems from removing too much of the hardened tip? need opinions thanks Bruce J.

I'm no expert; but, once you cut it down, can't you just put hardened lash caps on the valve? Wouldn't this do the same thing as the hardened end on the valve stem?

SBF valves should not need the stems cut. They are the right length to start with. SB Chevy valves are .100" long though.
