Don't use a spool on the street. 'specially in the wet You can total the whole shebang quickly. What rear Axle do you have? I have (had) a Detroit locker in the '69 Dart 3400# car with a 14.7 sec Capable Engine in that heavy car. and a 4 speed. This was in the 8.75" rear with a 4.10 Gear. I used it on the hiway, parking lots etc. Clunky and chunky but reliable when needed on the strip and unlocks as needed for the turns. Greg |

I didn't mind it. Just some clicking here and there when it locked and unlocked.. I was able to live with it. It also was a newer model say 2004-2005ish when I bought it, Greg |

I've got one set of gears on a Richmond gear locker, and another on a Detroit locker. Both work. The Richmond gear locker makes more noise. The Detroit still makes noise, but not near as much. With the Richmond gear locker, I've had people in the staging lanes come running up, worry showing on their faces, to tell me something's wrong with my car. It's that kind of loud. More of a hard metallic clack than a click. When you launch, and it's not fully set, it sounds like something very bad just happened. As in, BANG! It tracks straight, and as long as I don't get too stupid with the long pedal around town, it behaves itself. Accelerating mildly in a straight line, it will click every once in a while if tire pressure isn't equal. Audible tire pressure monitoring system, right? Just a FYI thing. If I was street driving the car, I'd want the Detroit back there. CJ |
