Hi all,
I have a 1974 Dodge D100, and I have never met the original owner. As I have begun to work on the truck I have suspitons that it is not the original motor. It has an A-390 transmission which i believe was not installed until '75. The motor seems to have been resurfaced at some point and the surface where the engine number should be is blank (machining marks).
Any thoughts on whether or not it was the original or what it might have come from?

Thanks

It really doesn't matter much what it came from. It appears to have the correct era carburetor. Look at the manifold side of the block and see how many core plugs are visible. If it had 3 core plugs it's '67 or older engine. 5 core plugs is '68 and newer. If there is a large casting number under the core plugs it's a forged crank engine form '68-'76. If there isn't a large casting number it's a cast crank engine that uses different crank, rods and bearings for both. Then there's the cylinder head. If you have spark plug tubes it's an early 1976 or older head.
