Sounds good, CJ. Look forward to updates... I got my hands slightly dirty yesterday, which felt good.

We didn't make that much progress. I got up there today, and we degree'd the cam in. A very easy processes with the Keith Black gear drive. Pull the pumps, pull the gear cover, remove the cam gear bolts, Turn the engine to the desired position, rotate the cam to the desired lift per the dial indicator. Install the gear where the bolts line up. Voila. Done!

Reinstall the cover, bolt up the pumps, and there we go.

Gary is going to work on getting the transmission reinstalled tomorrow, then will call Friday to verify I can get back up Saturday for some setup.

I need to bring some goodies with me.
1. The oil pump block off plate.
2. The fire suppresion parts
3. The blower restraint plate
4. Port nozzle block - Order
5. 14 # Check valve for the above
6. Front-Runners, tubes and rim bands need to be ordered.
7. Keith Black gear drive idler gear set needs to be ordered. (The ones that are in there are a Summit Racing set on the KB Cam and Crank gears. These are not of the same quality as the KB gears, so will need to be replaced. I bought them to speed up fabrication.

Maybe by the time the track opens up...?

I'm having a hard time finding the idler gears for the KB. Likely not holding my jaw right when I Google it.

It looks like they are A not making it anymore, or B it comes from the unpublished catalog...

I'm pretty sure the Summit Gear drive idlers are powdered metal gears, and they don';t have the quality of bearing material the KB set has.

I'll get some photos tomorrow. The ones I took don't convey much.

Wow!!! I love it! Show us more! Show us more! :D :D

Did you have the timing cover made?

Post subject:  Re: Timing cover

Yessir,

Gary made the timing cover, as well as the blower intake. I ought to see if he has a set of drawings for them. It's billet aluminum, He made it from a solid aluminum plate I sourced on his Bridgeport Mill. It's a manual machine. DRO's and power feeds of course, but no CNC capability. If he has a set of drawings, I'll see about getting copy(s).

We started with a Clifford short ram intake, cut, milled and welded it into what we needed, then made a custom plate for the blower. It has a slanted floor to feed back to the plenum opening. Not the most efficient design, as the blower moves air to the front drive end, but the blower would have to sit back over the firewall otherwise..
