Post subject:  Help on my slant six block authencicity

I am here because other forums would have great fun with this question as my car is a 1968 Satellite with a slant 6. My question relates to casting numbers, casting dates as well as stampings. My 1968 Satellite slant six has a casting number of 2463430-17 which seems to be a 1966 225ci RG 6-Cylinder Engine. My casting date is 01137 or January 13, 1967. However, the block stamping behind the coil is PT225 R 22680792 which I believe decodes as follows:
PT Passenger car engine made at Trenton engine plant.
225 225 ci
R Regular Fuel
2268 October 13, 1967 (10,000 day calendar)
0792 792nd Car built on that day.
Now for the kicker, my build date on my Body Plate is A20 or October 20, 1967. It seems like the block stamping lines up with the build date of the Satellite but as you can see, the casting number and casting date do not. Also, I do not see a vin stamp, or anything else (blank) on the block pad near the firewall.
I don't know the answer but can anyone here help?

What's the question? Blocks don't go from the foundry to the machining line on the same day.

I guess I’m wondering if the block is possibly original to the car with such a span between the block casting date and the assembly date of the car?

It is very likely that the engine is original to the car. Parts are cast, stockpiled, sent to assembly plant, assembled engines 'stockpiled', and eventually make it into a production automobile. I don't recall when they started stamping the VIN on engine blocks and transmissions, maybe someone else can chime in.

I could see that happening.

The foundry would be running in batch mode for efficiency, and they would store the blocks.

Then when they started to use the blocks, they may have been using them 'last in , first out' , so the oldest block got used last.

"using them 'last in , first out'" ,

back-in-the-day, most Foundries ran inventory on a FISH system

There is a pad there but it has nothing stamped on it. (Blank)

There should also be a flat surface on the block just above where the oil pan mounts on the passenger side. This would be a long narrow flat spot with the last part of your VIN stamped into it. The pad in your last picture is not it.

Image could be wrong on this but I always thought the actual casting of the block indicated by those white date code red clock or batch number and black shift number
