Just to give us Slanters perspective, here is a link to Power Nation's Ford 300 build up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSTxCfu ... mb_rel_end Hot rodded 300 Ford, 270 HP N/A |

Thanks for posting. Sure would like to see a slant to compare the mods to results. |

That is a nice build, but I would expect that there is a lot more in it N/A than 270. With a 4.00"+ bore, 1.94 valves and 7 mains, it should be easily capable of more than 1HP / CI. Plus they were not turning a lot of RPM. They may be just building something a little less radical in anticipation of the turbo install! ![]() ![]() I believe the last time I checked my weight and ET/MPH I was at @ 260 HP. That is 1.15 HP/CI. So a comparable 300 would be at 345HP. |

That Ford 300 needs bigger intake valves, but the spark plug is already really close to that 1.94" valve. A 302 would have 8 valves this size, flow a lot more air and make more power. The 230/236° @ .050" cam peters out pretty quickly too. The Ford's cylinders are 1/3rd larger than ours and harder to fill. It would be interesting to know what the head flows to see if it's the limiting factor. Not a bad job at all, but the architecture is obviously a limitation. |

FYI You can playback at 2X speed, and still understand them.................. |

You have to remember they use whatever parts the sponsors throw their way, plus they seem to be building more for boost than N/A. That being said, they didn't put much cam in it. |

That's why I don't watch these things that often. I have to wonder if they really have a clue when I hear comments like the one about the timing gears - theirs not being a fiber gear. I was just curious to see what GM and Ford inline sixes are putting out. |

You could tell when a 300 was going to need a gear because the fiber ones would knock when they got worn. It almost sounded like a rod knocking. |

Wow, I would never have thought anything but steel or iron would be used in a gear/gear drive. I stand corrected, but I will admit to knowing nothing of Ford or GM inline sixes. |

Back 45 years ago I had a Ford Econoline E-100 with the 300 cu in six and a three speed manual trans. so much torque. Top end was about 80 or so but load the puppy up and away you would go. Obviously not a high rever but it was a truck. Used a lot of gas though. |

I was just curious to see what GM and Ford inline sixes are putting out. The basis was to try to stay within the thoughts of both engines being compatible with pump gas with compression not exceeding 9:1 and otherwise being streetable. The power range on the 250 was from 200 HP with exhaust manifolds and small cam to 325 HP with the side drafts, headers, 1.94 valves and bigger cam in N/A form, and just under 400 HP with on 6 psi of boost. The 292 went from its baseline of just under 200 HP, but with 300 ft. lbs of torque to 300 HP and 330 ft. lbs of torque in N/A form. |

Interesting that the 250 had the 292 covered pretty well in terms of Horse powers, The 292 went from its baseline of just under 200 HP, but with 300 ft. lbs of torque to 300 HP and 330 ft. lbs of torque in N/A form. Wouldn't it be nice if the slant six had been offered in a 300 inch displacement? |

Yes it would, the 225 already has the same stroke as the 292. |
